WHAT IS OPEN BITE

Understanding
open bite

Open bite involves environmental factors beyond genetics — particularly thumb sucking, mouth breathing, and tongue thrusting habits during the mixed dentition and adolescent stages. If these habits continue after permanent teeth erupt, an open bite can develop.

Environmental factors can mostly be treated with orthodontics alone. Even cases diagnosed for surgical correction due to genetic factors can be treated with non-surgical correction at Eins Dental, unless the condition is severe.
